How easy is it to make a pendant?

How easy is it to make a pendant?
The answer:
VERY EASY!!
Today I am going to show you how easy, quick and fun it is to make a fabric pendant.
These are made with my daughter Selina's hexie pendant blanks ...
Which are in her Etsy shop...plus many more shapes and finished goodies.

I highly recommend this great glue....
Aleene's quick dry tacky glue...so much better than elmers glue.
You get three sets of hexie pieces in Selina's pack.

Just cover the inner hexie with a piece of thin cotton batting...glue in place.

I love to take the outer hexie and place it on fabric pieces to see what area of the fabric will be cutest.
This is the same fabric, just a different area...see how completely different it would look.
You could also add embroidery or beads to the area you want to use on the fabric.
I like to pull out a few fabrics to try out.
I have a scrap of "Hello Kitty"...cute!
These pendants only need a tiny piece of fabric.
I love this summer time/patriotic fabric.
So many choices!
Imagine all the choices in your fabric stash!
I decided that I wanted to do the blue.
Just set the fabric on top of the inner hexie and push the outer hexie over it!
I cut the back of the fabric down to 1/4".
One section was even with the wood...glue will take care of that.
Add tacky glue....
Fold over fabric...press with fingers for a second.

Cut out a piece of black felt for backing.

Add some more glue...
Sorry my pic is crazy...my cat was trying to get into the picture.
Press down the felt on the back.
Looks cute!
Add the necklace chain...then it is complete!
Perfect to wear to a summer BBQ or to the beach.
Selina sells them in packs...it comes with the bunny embroidery pattern and a how to sheet.
She also sells mini hoop blanks...it comes with the "hello" embroidery pattern.
She sells rings, tags, banners, earrings and more!
She graduates High School on Sunday!!!
So proud!!!

Loving family....freebie

This little design is dedicated to our love of family.
Sometimes they can be a pain or just make you mad...but we need family and when it comes down to it.... family is really really important.  I can't imagine a holiday dinner without family.
Or a graduation without family.
This would be cool stitched up on a baby blanket corner.
*Please note that all freebies are for you to use to make a couple finished goods (no mass producing) and a couple gifts...they are still legally my designs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been working on design in adobe illustrator.
This is a cute character I drew up with just black lines....and then added color to it.
This is a screen shot of things in mid process.
I was playing around with how I wanted to the design to look.
I wanted to flip the girl around so no matter how the pattern is places...atleast some of it will be right side up.
Then I added all the color and made it into a repeating pattern design.
I would love to see this made into fabric.
** Side note:These are not freebies...these are just examples of my work.
The freebie is the top "Family" design in black and white.
I just have to point that out to make it very clear.
Here is the same character in another color combo.
I like the black hair on her!
l
And here is a Halloween color combo.
Good old orange and black ...with purple!
When working in illustrator...you can make some cool designs into clip art...
like this summer time clip art set I made which is in my etsy shop.
They can be made so that the clip art can be placed on existing pictures...like my cat Trix picture below.
The clip art has a transparent background.
I think it is so funny she is holding an ice cream cone!!
She really loves those cat treats called temptations.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Painting...what a process.

On Sunday....it rained and rained...so my daughter said she wanted an art day!
We got out a million supplies and got busy!
Above is the finished painting...."the Queen of Fun"
It started as a blank canvas...adding papers...old books and tissue papers.
Then I added paint...my favorite colors and more white.
Plus lots of scribbles.
To me it was still a mystery...I didn't know what I was going to paint.
Then I added some darker colors...
covering up...but layering.
Here I decide I want a queen with flowers.
It is taking shape.
Adding more details...more colors...it is fun playing around.
Here it is close to being done...cute and sweet...my style...lol.
After that I did this Halloween painting...I thought why not...everything is all over the table anyway.

I just love Halloween....can't get enough of it!

Here is one of my daughter Selina's paintings...
WE had a blast together.
Here is another cutie by Selina.
I love doing things with her...we get along like peas and carrots!

Hope you too had a fabulous weekend!

new MERMAID

My new pattern is ready!
The Merry Mermaid embroidery mini quilt pattern # 371
This sweet design is sure to please and it's quick to stitch!
Make the design into a small quilt or a pillow! This is such a charming embroidery quilt wall hanging....so quick, easy and fun to do. This is so lovely in your summer home decor, in your daughter's room or at your lake house. This could easily be made into a pillow.
Quilt measures: 12" tall x 14" wide
Embroidery design measures: 6 3/4" tall x 6 1/8"
There are easy to follow diagrams in the pattern too!
-----------------------------------------------------------
This is my soon to be graduate. Selina will finish high school very soon!
These are just some of her designs!
She has lots of blanks ...for you to fill and lots of finished items too.
You can make 3 sets...to match an outfit, to show off your embroidery (the set comes with the flower embroidery pattern design) or pop in your favorite fabric.
We were both featured on the Checker distributor blog recently!
her mini hoops and my pattern that has designs for her mini hoops.
It is the perfect summer project!
This is my pattern...with 12 designs to go in the mini hoops.
I tried to come up with as many different designs as I could...to please everyone.
This video Selina did...shows how easy it is to use the mini hoops!
It's only 2 1/2 minutes long.

Happy Friday!

Awww... Summer!

Summer time is just around the corner...and I am super excited.
Not only is my one and only child graduating...but we have a lot of business to work on together!
It is going to be epic!
Do you have a vacation planned?
Do you camp?
I love working on projects outdoors...getting fresh air and enjoying the birds!
Here in this post....I am featuring some of my very top favorite patterns for
SUMMER~.
I love needlecases....not only are they cute...but if you ever have a sewing group or are traveling with a sewing project...a needlecase is really handy!
This pincushion also keeps your snips scissors close by....
which is good because I am always moving scissors around.
This pattern is in my etsy shop!
All 3 designs are in one!
This is an oldie, but a goodie!
It has been popular ever since I made it.
I love using the smallest of wool scraps...I can't help but be thrifty.
I love mixing old photos with my designs.
This necklace is a great remembrance piece...you could use a family picture if you wanted to...but I also give some random photos for you to use.
These are in:
This once reminds me of an old political rally pin.
These also use up scraps and make great show sellers.
Bee kind..
This design came from a small drawing I did that was just a quick doodle.
I loved it so much that I turned it into this pattern...
Black and yellow borders are the perfect addition to make this pop!
One of my favorite sayings...
We don't have many snails here in eastern Washington...it is too dry, but this little guy is very sweet hanging up.
Do you needle punch...punch needle?
I love doing it...it is addicting.
I love adding them to those paper mache boxes at the craft stores that are 99 cents.
This Americana one can hold some treats or buttons.
We are going to the Oregon coast this summer...
This design really makes me excited for it.
It is fun to decorate for summer time....
get out the shells...and some sand from the craft store....fill a bowl or dish.
How can anyone be sad in the water ...with an ice cream cone?
It's impossible!
lol
someone asked me if I could create a bright vibrant punch needle...since most tend to be primitive.
I jumped at the challenge.
I love color!

------
I have a new design coming out very very soon...
it is for Summer!!!!
